“Cancel Abia Guber Primary Now”…Aspirant Tells Oshiomhole

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the APC in Abia State, Prince Paul Ikonne, has called for the cancellation of the just concluded gubernatorial primary in his home State in the overall interest of justice and peace in the party.

Prince Ikonne, in a petition sent to the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday, urged the former governor of Edo State to use his good office to declare that a fresh gubernatorial primary be held in Abia State as soon as possible.

He also appealed to Oshiomhole to declare that the register sent down by the national headquarters of the party be used to conduct fresh gubernatorial primary.

The former governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) claimed that the panel sent to conduct the primary compromised by authorizing the use of an already “manipulated, doctored and altered register.”

He said though the APC national headquarters had sent down a comprehensive party register containing list of eligible party members to vote at every ward in the state, it was jettisoned.

Part of the petition read: “I am Prince Paul Ikonne, a founding and stoic member at the All Progressives Congress since inception and one of the aspirants of the just concluded gubernatorial primaries which was held on the 2nd day of October, 2018.

“I hereby bring to your attention the electoral irregularities, atrocities and injustices in the recently concluded gubernatorial primaries in Abia State perpetuated by APC‘s Electoral Commtttee Chairman (Abia State) in collaboration with the State’s Party Chairman and his associates which usher in one Uche Ogoh as the party’s flag bearer in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

“Regrettably, this undermines our great party’s tenets, principles and your well meaning efforts at conducting an impeccable and credible primary election across the country.

“For your further enlightenment, the State gubernatorial primary was greeted with great enthusiasm that the election will be credible, free and fair. However, the contrary was the case as the election was marred by malpractices, fraud and irregularities based on the following facts.

“This outrageous decision by the chairman of the electoral committee in collaboration with the party chairman to use another register other than the authentic register sent by the national headquarters was carried out in spite of the fact that party members such as myself and so many others were against this illegality and abnormality.

“This action by the chairman of the electoral committee and the State party chairman is unbecoming, disgraceful and disheartening at this stage of our democracy in view of our party’s manifesto and incessant fight against corruption that such anomalies can be happening.”

He said he and PDP leaders “cannot afford to fail Nigerians at this very moment.”

Prince Nureni Akinsanya

The Mushin Constituency 1 area of Lagos state at the weekend witnessed a wild jubilation since the declaration of Prince Nureni Akinsanya as its candidate for the House of Assembly election due to hold next year.

Speaking to newsmen in the course of the jubilation that greeted the declaration of Akinsanya as the winner of the keenly contested primary election, the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress in his Ojuwoye, Mushin Ward B1, constituency, Hon.Wasiu Badejo described the choice of the candidate, popularly known as Osmak, as the best to have happened to the Ward in particular and Mushin in general of late.

Describing the personality of Akinsanya as unique and his Victory at the primary  one with royal colouration and  of great significance, Badejo said “aside the fact that he is an  indigene, he is also a  Mushin Prince hence, the enthusiasm by  the people to give him their  mandate to go and contest to represent them at the State Assembly”

Submitting that Akinsanya’s track record earned him  the confidence of the people who overwhelmingly voted for him at the Direct Primary election, Badejo said the two term Counselor has demonstrated over time his loyalty to the  party by staying with it through thick and thin.

He said Unlike some political prostitutes within the fold in the constituency who returned to the party at the wee hour to fight for ticket ,Akinsanya  he said, had been with the party since it was Alliance For Democracy (AD)  and “he never wavered for once”.

Insisting that  Akinsanya’s loyalty had never been in question, the Chairman said some disgruntled elements in the constituency had attempted to blackmail him with his unquestionable loyalty to the party, in the course of the campaign for the primary election but failed.

According to Badejo,” like every other member of influential caucuses that endorsed Governor Ambode for a second term, Akinsanya registered his support and withdrew same immediately the party leadership nominated Babajide Sanwo-olu.

“But I heard  some mischief makers are criticising him for staying loyal to the party and its ideals, and most unfortunately, those critics are the ones that it took us so much energy and time to convince before they could agree to support  the Sanwo-olu agenda”

Not minding his overwhelming  popularity  within and beyond  his constituency, Badejo offered that Akinsanya went through a rigorous screening and was part of an election within his Ideal group before he emerged to contest in the primary which he eventually won.

Meanwhile, the  leadership of Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon has been described as the most equitable and just by members of the APC in the area.

According to a member of the party  who gave his name simply as Debo, Solomon,a two term representative of  Lagos West at the Senate has provided genuine and selfless leadership for the people of the area.

He added that his non bias nature came into bear even in the selection process that produced Akinsanya for the primary election.

Debo mentioned that the sincerity of the Solomon leadership also reflected in the  Congresses and other elections held in the area before now.

He added that  it is the same virtue of the Solomon leadership that  provided for rhe thorough process that threw Akinsanya up  as a candidate of  the party.

Debo thus submitted that  because he emerged on merit and as a result of the popularity of his choice, Akinsanya enjoyed   the support of members the  party members  towards  and during the primary election.

He promised  that the party members  would ensure Akinsanya’s victory at the general election come 2019.

Buhari To Atiku on PDP Victory: “Nigerians Are Waiting To Ask You Questions”

$

“We wish to congratulate His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on his emergence as the candidate of the PDP in respect of the forth-coming 2019 Presidential Election.

However, we note with interest all the reports in the media as to massive vote-buying at the PDP primaries (especially with foreign currency). We contrast this with the speech of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2014 APC Convention when he said as follows:

“I have always served Nigeria to the best of my ability. I have always tried to give more to the nation than it has given me. This is the principle of service that has guided my public life. Thus, I am not a rich person. I can’t give you a fistful of dollars or naira to purchase your support. Even if I could, I would not do so. The fate of this nation is not up for sale”.

There were also media reports in the 2014 APC National Convention that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar freely used the same method of massive vote-buying in foreign currency, but he came a distant third. Till date, he has not denied those media reports. The claim therefore that the process that produce him now as a candidate of the PDP was free, fair and transparent is suspect.

It is therefore clear that going into this election the issues that will agitate the minds of Nigerians most would be centered around the credibility of the candidate of the opposition and the kind of values he brings into our politics.

Nigerians would ask themselves whether he can be trusted with our national resources with this proclivity for “dollarising” the political arena, thereby taking us back to the warped values from which President Buhari is trying to extricate the nation. One wonders what such a candidate would do with public funds.

Nigerians would also note with interest the verdict of Atiku’s former boss when he was Vice President on his credibility and integrity, calling him unprintable names at different occasions. Nigerians would note that in all of these occasions, Atiku Abubakar had never defended these allegations against him by his former boss, but continues to court his support and cooperation.

Nigerians would want to know how candidate Atiku Abubakar intends to inspire a nation to believe in his ability to fight corruption in the face of very damning reports both locally and internationally concerning his records on corruption whilst he was in public service as a Customs Officer and later when he was Vice President of Nigeria.

We note with amusement that on many occasions Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has tried to claim some credit for certain “achievements” during the tenure of President Obasanjo when he was Vice President because, according to him, he was “part of that Government”. We also wish to remind Nigerians that as much as he claims the credit, he must be prepared to accept joint liability for all that happened in that Government. He cannot blow hot and cold. In due time we shall talk about all these.

Taking all the above into considerations, Nigerians would rightly ask whether a leopard can indeed change its skin despite all the sweet talk they expect to hear from the opposition candidate during the election.

Finally, in the history of elections in Nigeria, the choices before Nigerians have never been clearer than now: Nigerians would have to decide between a candidate with a history full of credibility crises, damning reports on corruption both home and abroad and another candidate, (the incumbent President) with an unblemished record in public service.

Thank you.”

Things To Do When You Miss Your Flight

Here Are Things To Do When You Miss Your Flight

Missing a flight is a terrible feeling that can be extra stressful if you’re travelling for a personal emergency or on a tight work schedule. While dealing with the unexpected might cause you to feel anxious, upset, and helpless, there are several steps you can take to ensure things run as smoothly as possible when air travel doesn’t go as planned.

Brush up on your airline’s policies

One of the best things you can do before you fly is familiarise yourself with your booked airline’s policies. Know what their contract of carriage is, as it will outline how an airline handles various scenarios, such as delays, missed flights, and more.

Consider other transportation options

If your airline won’t rebook you without a pricey penalty, it may be time to consider other options. Sometimes, it’s less expensive to buy a brand new ticket from other airlines, fly out of a neighbouring airport, or to re-organise your agenda to fly out on a different day. If your flight was scheduled to be short, you might be able to get to your destination faster with a ground transportation option like a rental car, bus, or train.

Adjust your agenda and/or accommodations

Missing your flight will likely have an impact on your itinerary, whether you’re traveling for work or for fun. Consider things like airport pickup and transfers, along with your scheduled accommodations. Be sure to let a hotel know as soon as soon as it’s clear that you won’t be on time for your reservation, especially if you need to cancel it entirely. Your goal here is to avoid extra charges made to your booking.

Look into compensation

If you missed a connecting flight because your first flight was disrupted, you might be eligible for compensation from your airline.

Talk with airline representatives

Before you start to stress out, talk with airline representatives about your missed flight. Explaining why you missed your flight is the first step. Some airlines have an informal ‘flat tire’ rule which means they can book you on the next available flight, should space allow, if you missed your flight for a good reason.

“God, Not Man, Makes Stars”…Banker-turned-Actress, Christiana Olorunfemi

Fast rising actress, Christi
Christiana Oluwatoyin Olorunfemi

ana Oluwatoyin Olorunfemi has explained the main reasons she decided to call it quits with banking, a lucrative profession and opted for acting.

According to the talented role interpreter who had worked with United Bank for Africa(UBA) for about seven years before throwing in the towel at the A- list financial institution in 2013 and joined the movie industry, ” Although, banking job is very lucrative as many may say, it’s monotonous and time consuming; I can’t continue with that kind of job. As a banker, you do the same thing everyday, and you spend the whole of your day in the banking hall, sitting in the same place. You don’t have any time of your own. It’s time consuming and stressful most times; hence my decision to call it quits. I resigned as a cash officer and joined acting in 2013. Since, I have not regretted my decision. I am enjoying myself as an actress.”
On the journey so far, the pretty thespian expressed, “Yes, it may not be said to be 100 per cent smooth, but it’s fulfilling and enjoyable being an entertainer. And I am sure, very soon, I will attain the desired height in the industry.
” Since I started, I had featured in countless movies, including Wura Nla, Omin, Alaafin Molete, My Secret, Asorosangbesi, Amendment and many more while I am also warming up to shoot my own movie, and that will surely happen very soon by the special grace of God.”
On the  rumoured sexual harassment in the industry, especially by producers and marketers, Olorunfemi said, “That has not happened to me. So, I am not aware of anything like that. Besides, It’s God that can make you a star, not the number of producers or marketers you sleep with. That’s my belief, and it has been working for me since I started out as an actress.”

Living An Impactful Life: Apostle Suleman’s Words of Exhortation

Apostle Suleman

“The moment you ask Jesus to be your Saviour and Lord, your sins are forgiven and your slate is wiped clean. God is no longer holding your past sins against you,” begun the servant of God and senior Pastor at Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) Apostle (Prof.) Johnson Suleman, as he mounted the rostrum at the just concluded The Supernatural 2018 which held at Lausanne, Switzerland between Tuesday, October 2nd and Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018.

A caring pastor, who always lives a godly life, faithfully loves and teaches God’s Word to people, Apostle Suleman, no doubt, recognizes how tremendous the challenge is to be a leader and model; thus when he has the opportunity, he does offer from his position, ideas, words of encouragement, and exhortation that will be a blessing to all.

Teaching God’s Word is a privilege and a blessing, but it is no easy task. However, some leaders make it look easy, and this is based purely on grace. According to the firebrand preacher, “we can have the same name, the same title but what separates us is our impact. We can have the same name, the same title but what makes one stand out is his impact. God is not looking for men with titles; He is looking for men He can tie Himself to. If you are not making impact as a preacher, the world will be too busy to hear you. What makes you stand out as a preacher is your hunger for impact.”

At the two-day impactful gathering, the ‘Oracle of God’ gave teachings on some important and foundational Christian beliefs from which participants drew a deeper understanding of God and His works on mankind. “When a man has out-grown his present stage, God uses circumstances to push him out to a higher level,” he delivered to the mammoth crowd at the conference. Further, Suleman warned on the influence of friendship, urging men to “mind the people you associate with, because sometimes there is group punishment for private sin.”

Apostle Suleman has authored passion-packed books that touch on living an impactful life as well as books that speak about revolutionizing the Church. From his writings, Christians especially will find solution to challenges, and encouragements.

The servant of God’s sermon also addresses the issue of authenticity; how genuine a man should be. Dissecting his address, it says it is possible for a man to practice an outward display of holiness, without in actuality, having inner reality of godliness.

“A man’s outward demonstrations of goodness may be no more than mere hypocrisy”, posits Suleman, adding; “It is what you do in secret that reflects in the public.”

Urging on hope, Apostle Suleman says that Christians hope is a realistic expectation of joyful longing for future good. “It is not until we have hope and move beyond the misery stage that we are able to find a magnificent lesson to be learned. No matter how bad your situation may be, do not panic. Have hope,” he concludes.

Katsina Lawmaker, Kurfi Danlami Condemns APC Primary, Seeks Redress

Mohammed Kurfi Danlami
A serving Federal lawmaker from Katsina State representing Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Mohammed Kurfi Danlami has petitioned Chairman of the party’s Appeals Committee at the national secretariat, Abuja over alleged manipulation of primary election conducted in the state Friday, October 5, 2018.
Kurfi who is seeking reelection to the parliament described the process as a ”kangaroo election” which according to him was conducted by unknown persons with the intent to deliberately truncate the continuous progress and success of the party both at the state and Federal level.
The dissatisfied lawmaker who is the deputy Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream is urgently seeking redress from APC such that a loyal party member like him would not be edged out through undemocratic means against the wishes of his teaming supporters.
In his petition which was also made available to the media, the Katsina born lawmaker said,
”Those who conducted the elections are not our Party Officials. I am not even sure if they are members of our great party. There was no Party representative(s) from the National Headquarters of our great Party. There was no representative from the Katsina State Headquarters of our great Party, the APC. There was no known Party Official from anywhere.
The purported Primary Election for the Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency was not conducted at the approved venue which is the Stadium but, instead, it was conducted at the Dutsinma Local Government Secretariat where many people were not allowed to enter. Election Observers were not allowed into the arena to witness and observe the electoral processes. ” He said
Kurfi also decried the process which was bereft of transparency, pointing out that even journalists were barred from exercising their legitimate assignments on the said day.
”The Media was also locked out to ensure that no one could record or report on their unlawful activities. My supporters were not allowed into the arena. Only my Agent, one of my brothers and myself were allowed to enter the arena, Meanwhile, my opponent had over 60 non-voting supporters inside the arena. When I noticed the atrocities being perpetuated, I raised alarm but no one listened. I walked out in protest.”
He continued, ”My Agent did not sign anything . He tried to make observations but he was not allowed to do so. He also left in protest, long before the manipulated election was concluded. My supporters were ready for the election fixed for Thursday, 4th October, 2018 but the election was not conducted until 9pm on Friday, 5th October, 2018 most Party loyalists had lost hope and gone away.
Going by our Party Guidelines, Appointed Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen, not being elected, are not eligible to vote in the Party Primaries for House of Representatives but they voted in the election. Appointees of the Caretaker Committee Chairmen also voted at the election. These included Special Assistants to the Caretaker Committee Chairmen.”
The parliamentarian equally alleged in his petition that a certain State commissioner was involved in the electoral malpractice; ”The State Commissioner for Finance also voted in the election. He was visibly in charge of the manipulations. Even though I tried to raise a complain, no one listened. My supporters were compelled to vote against me, under threat to their lives and the lives of members of their families.”
The petitioner however in his prayer repudiated the act of bringing a green-horn politician who only joined APC four months ago and was now forced on party faithful despite his rejection by the majority which may dangerously reduce the chances of APC from winning in the 2019 general polls.
”In the light of the foregoing, my prayer to the National Chairman is to urgently intervene and ensure that the right thing is done. For our Party to win the 2019 General Election in Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency, the Party must present the people’s choice. The people of Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency are lamenting on the imposition of an unpopular candidate who just joined the APC four (4) months ago.If this injustice is not addressed, we risk losing the General Election to other contending Political Parties.” he stated

Online vs Offline Store: Who Is Winning The Retail War?

Doing business in the present world has significantly being disrupted. Shoppers do not need to visit physical stores to do their shopping. They can do so from the comfort of their bedroom via a computer or an internet-savvy mobile phone.

With the geometric growth and proliferation of online retail businesses, you would think that the traditional brick and mortar businesses would have gone into extinction. Fortunately or unfortunately, this is not the case, it appears that offline stores still remain relevant and resilient.

Traditional Brick and Mortar Stores

To describe yourself as an entrepreneur in the past, you have to own a physical office or store where the customer walks in to purchase an item. But, there are quite a number of factors working against this. For example, in Lagos, many people are quite busy that they do not even have the time to visit these physical stores. You can add the Lagos traffic and also the time you spend scurrying from one shop to another to purchase all the items you want. Here, convenience is not the watchword.

The 21st Century shopper

Offline stores are now seriously under threat by online stores. The edge online stores have over the traditional store is convenience. It is very convenient to shop online. A platform like Jumia which pioneered ecommerce in Nigeria has shown that this is actually the case. The 21st-century shopper doesn’t want to jump from one store to another to make their purchases.

Other reasons why online stores seem to be gaining momentum include (1) the possibility to reach more customers (2) You don’t need to break the bank to own an online business (3) It offers more employment opportunities (4) You will get the best price i.e. it is affordable.

Are traditional stores under threat?

Undoubtedly, traditional stores are under threat because the competition to create value just keeps getting tougher. In fact, some offline companies have moved their entire businesses online while others have concocted or blended the two. They have both a thriving online and offline business. A good example of this is the print media. Many print organisations now have the print and online version of their newspapers. They have successfully transcended the challenge without necessarily shutting down their print version. Meanwhile, a good number of others have liquidated or folded up. Good examples of these are popular businesses such as Kingsway, UTC and Leventis

Furthermore, even if some offline stores are still alive, they have been forced to take some drastic decisions as well as innovate so that they can be in line with the 21st-century business trend. And of course, you cannot argue that the future of business is online as many branded names like Jumia, Amazon, and eBay among others are evolving their business to better serve their online customers.

Recently, Tantalizers presented its financial reports to the public which rendered the quick service delivery business unprofitable. According to the Chairman, Board of Directors of Tantalizers, Dr Jaiye Oyedotun, three major challenges rendered the company unprofitable at the end of 2017: (1) Reduction in credit opportunities. (2) Weak consumer demands. (3) Stiffer competition.

In an opinion piece titled Dear Quick Service Restaurants (QSR), Take Your Menu Online To Become A Sustainable Business by Olukayode Kolawole, he urged Tantalizers to signup to Jumia‘s food delivery services and watch how the business will grow in the next 12 months. This is one of the threats online stores are posing. It is either business shape in or shape out.

Can there be a meeting point between offline and online store?

Although an online business brings along with it affordability and convenience like Jumia is doing, we must not forget that there are a large number of Nigerians who are still offline. In other words, they do not have internet access and therefore, it is highly possible they will not perform their transactions online. This is backed by research as 53% of Nigerians do not have internet and most of them reside in rural areas.

Hence, the retail race, especially in emerging economies, cannot be won by online stores alone. There must be a synergy between an offline and offline to provide quality and sterling services to customers.

So who is winning the retail war?

Sorry to disappoint you, there is really no retail war. It is a matter of innovation. While online stores may appear to have the edge, offline stores are evolving because they do not want to vanish! Ultimately, if a business is offline, it is advisable to move online so that they will remain relevant, Not doing so could be catastrophic.

Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State.

The Kano state governor Abdullahi Ganduje Thursday reacted to a report by an online media platform alleging that he was involved in graft.

The news paltform, New Nigerian, based in Abuja, reported that Ganduje received up to $5 million in a series of questionable deals with state contractors.

The platform said it is in possession of three footages that showed how the governor was receiving bribes from state contractors. One of the videos showed a person, which it claimed to be the governor, roll nearly $3 million under his cloth.

But Ganduje denied being the person in the video.

“We wish to state that there is no iota of truth to these allegations and if indeed there is any such alleged video, it is at best cloned,” the Kano state commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba said in a statement.

“The government of Kano state is taking this matter seriously, and will exploit every appropriate and legal avenue to ensure that it gets to the root of the matter and the perpetrators are brought to book”.

Meanwhile, the news platform held in their report that its graphics expert, who was also invited to a secret meeting to ascertain whether the videos were genuine, confirmed that they were not doctored.

According to New Nigerian, a representative from a reputable international anti-corruption agency, who was also furnished with the clips for authentication, confirmed that it was genuine.

“Going by the analysis we made on conversation and the graphics, we concluded that the voice matched the subject matter’s voice and the images are unmistakably his,” the agency’s representative said.

Garba, however, insisted that his principal is a victim of blackmail from the opposition parties in order to deface the Kano State APC-led government. The state is a stronghold of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Evidently, Kano being the stronghold of the APC and expected to produce the highest votes in the
upcoming general elections is a target of campaign of calumny.”

Ganduje, who is running for a second term on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was also backed by a coalition of civil society organisations who also dismissed the report.

Spokespersons of the coalition, Isa Mahmud of PAIR and Okoronkwo Chuks, said the report was an act of desperation intent on causing confusion in the APC by wild allegations.

The coalition stressed that after rigorous investigations, the coalition established that the report was the handiwork of Rabiu Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya Movement aimed at stoking crisis in the North West.

“It is a matter of fact that the publisher of the Daily Nigerian, Jafar Jafar, is a former aide to Senator Kwankwaso as governor and still works for him.

“Having failed woefully at his futile attempt to be president, he is back to spinning cheap tales and aiming to foment trouble in the North West.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the infantile effort, like all others in the past, will amount to absolutely nothing.”

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Niger, Dr Mohammed Santuraki has called on the national executive of the party and other stakeholders not to underrate the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

In an interactive session with journalists in Suleja on Sunday, the chieftain said it would be disastrous to wave aside the former vice president as a feather weight, adding that Atiku is a formidable opponent that must be taken seriously.

“Whether we would like to admit or not, the presidential candidate that the main opposition party, the PDP, settled for is a formidable opponent, even if not a credible one.

“Within a week of emerging as the presidential flag bearer, he appointed his campaign team and named his running mate. This, to me, indicates a much needed sense of urgency. We, in APC must respond in like manner. The clock is ticking. We must push the button,” he said.

He said the party must evolve a strategic road map and plans of action aimed at defeating not just Atiku but PDP at all level of elections come 2019.

Santuraki said that the various disputes that came up in the course of the party’s national and states assemblies must be quickly resolved ahead of the general elections.

He expressed satisfaction with the measures already taken towards resolving the posts primaries so far.
