There is drama in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP leadership following a secret meeting allegedly held by former governor Capt. Idris Wada, with only Muslim delegates days back.

Insiders said that the ex governor who is contesting for the PDP ticket to return to the Government house in Lokoja, had gathered delegates of the Islamic faith in a private meeting on Monday where he urged them to vote for him or avoid a Christian but vote only a Muslim at the party primaries slated for September 3rd.

PDP officials are said to be shocked at the former governor’s action, saying it was unbecoming of a former governor to plant a seed of discord in the minds of Kogi people in the PDP and indeed across party and religious lines.

Our source said the move by the former Kogi governor was borne out of a ploy to win delegates over to his side at all costs.

The source said, “the PDP found all 13 contenders eminently qualified to govern kogi state and indeed able to fly the Peoples Democratic Party flag, so it is quite sad that with what is happening in the Nigerian polity today, a former governor’s campaign strategy will be to instigate religious divisions among the people”.

Wada, was among the 13 successful aspirants cleared by the PDP screening committee last week to stand for the September 3rd primaries.
